Emergency Procedures

Emergency Closing

All families will be notified using the School Messenger notification system. Phone calls wil be made to the two phone numbers that you provided. an email will be sent through the School Messenger notification system. In the event of snow, Centennial School District notifies us that their schools are closed and will not provide transportation to OLGC. Since Centennial buses transport 95% of our students, Administration then makes the decision to close our school, and the School Reach system will be launched.

DO NOT CALL THE RECTORY OR SCHOOL OFFICE.

If the public school district in which you reside is closed and our school is open, there will be no transportation for your child to our school.   For example, if your child rides Council Rock buses and #756 is announced as closed, then your child would not have transportation to OLGC.   If your public school district opens one hour late and OLGC is open, then your bus schedule will be delayed one hour.   In this event, please provide your own transportation.

If the weather is not bad enough to close the school for the entire day, the bus companies providing our students transportation may decide to open with a two hour delay.   In this event, the bus’ normal schedules will be delayed by two hours. (For example, if your child’s normal pickup time is 7:55, it would be moved to 9:55)   In the event of a two hour delayed opening there is no morning kindergarten, AM preschool or CARES progam. Please do not drop off students earlier than 8:00 AM. Please bring your child inside the building to check in with a teacher or staff member.

If weather reports indicate that snow is expected to continue and hinder transportation, it is likely that schools will be dismissed early.   This decision for OLGC students is made by the school districts providing transportation for our students.   Once this decision is made, obtaining a sufficient number of drivers for the school buses becomes a problem for the school districts, since most drivers have other non-school positions while classes are in session.   The speed with which pupils can be taken home will depend upon the supply of available drivers as well as road conditions.

IF YOU ARE NOT AT HOME, YOUR CHILD SHOULD KNOW AT LEAST ONE ALTERNATE PLACE TO GO, CLOSE TO HOME, AS CHILDREN WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO RIDE DIFFERENT BUSES.
