"It has been a privilege and a joy for me being a Catholic school teacher, and I always make that clear distinction Catholic when people refer to me as "a schoolteacher." When Cardinal Rigali presented me with my 25th Anniversary Plaque, I told His Eminence that I hope to make it to my 50th! I've been very happy at Our Lady of Good Counsel. I think my many years teaching here is testimony to that."

Mrs. Donna Marchetti : Grade 7 Teacher

Mrs. Donna Marchetti

Grade 7 Teacher

Mrs. Marchetti began her teaching career at Our Lady of Good Counsel School in September of 1980 (just nine years after she graduated in the OLGC Class of 1971!) Most of her time since has been teaching here at the junior high level, although she was fortunate to have spent several years at home just before and after the birth of her daughter, Julia. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Penn State University. Even though her emphasis of study at Penn State was in the areas of math and science she is thrilled to be teaching Social Studies to grades 6, 7 and 8 at Our Lady of Good Counsel. She considers it a very important responsibility to help children to study the past and relate it to the present as well as to assist in the learning about and appreciation for the diversity of cultures around the world. She looks forward to a happy and meaningful year with her students.
Mrs. Marchetti loves to read, listen to music, go running with her dog Natalia and visit with family and friends. As she and her husband of 25 years, Joe, are now “empty nesters”, she especially enjoys trips to Hamilton, NY where Julia is now in her second year at Colgate University.
