Mrs. McDermott earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from High Point University in North Carolina. Before that, she graduated from Archbishop Wood High School. As a science student, she enjoyed executing a variety of labs and experiments and as a teacher, she believes labs and experiments are a fun way to immerse students in scientific content. As a biology major, Mrs. McDermott spent time studying abroad in both Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands. This time abroad greatly deepened her love for science. She wishes to inspire her students with the same hands-on approach she experienced during her education. Mrs. McDermott wants to foster a collaborative environment for her students where they feel comfortable praising their accomplishments as well as voicing their struggles. She wishes to encourage each student to embrace their strengths and weaknesses alike and to help them cultivate knowledge of science!
